PROJECT

BRIEF

The project name was “Studio is everywhere”. We had to choose one person and photograph him/her to tell our audience our subject’s story using environment.

What is an environmental portrait? It is a portrait that is taken in an outdoor space which brings out the subjects personality in the most optimal manner. It is this space in which the subject spends most of their time and should be more than enough to tell the subject's story.

I chose to express the relation between my model and her polarised relationship with tennis. On one hand, her heart is attached to the sport which gave her confidence, focus, willpower and strength and on the other hand, it seems to be an albatross around her neck which is refraining her from moving on in life and achieving her other goals, dreams, and ambitions.

The project was shot in the tennis court of my apartment building. I chose to shoot at 3pm as the sun was the brightest at that time. The reason I did this was because the strong sunglight created beautiful shadows of the tennis court net which I wanted to use to portray the meaning of my shots.
